"The State or fact of existing, occurring or being present" (google.com)
- Harness self-awareness within the moment
- Be here in the now
- Out-of-body experience
How to have a positive powerful presence:
- Cognitive awareness
- Sensory awareness
- First, notice how you feel
- Second, ask yourself "what do I want people to feel?" If you want them to be curious, calm, hopeful, or excited, you need to shift to feeling this emotion yourself...
- Third, assess how you regard those you are speaking to
To be present is one thing but are we really present?
Presence goes hand in hand with life. We are born, therefore we are present.
As babies, toddlers, infants we are cared for, nurtured. As we grow, we become more aware of all our senses:
- Touch
- Sight
- Hearing
- Smell
- Taste
As humans, we suffer tumultuous times which can either hinder or help us to navigate through our purpose. Emotions can play a pivotal role in aiding us to sense our being and the environment around us and our sense of belonging.
As we grow we either have the natural inhabitants to understand what is going on around us and within us or we are guided towards this understanding by our parents etc pending on our vulnerability.
Hence begs to ask the question, are we present or just present and our actual presence is elsewhere?
This is a very personal question which can only be answered by individuals themselves, to which at the most part remains hidden.
How do we determine this? And do we have control over it?
How much of environmental factors play a role in our presence when facing difficult situations?
Do we face our reality or do we try to escape it?
Along with all our 5 senses, we also have the flight or fight sense which is tied within our psyche. These two senses play an important role in how we decide to act.
As human beings, we are somewhat programmed by our predecessors on how to behave. Our environment when growing up also plays a major factor in how confident we are and how we present ourselves to the world and to the people around us specifically.
All in all, being present in life is the best way to experience life.
